Richard J. Kochenburger, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who has cared for women in Alameda and throughout the East Bay for more than 30 years.
Dr. Kochenburger earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Harvard University and his Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland.
After decades of providing both office-based and hospital care, Dr. Kochenburger now focuses exclusively on personalized care in the office. His clinical interests include comprehensive prenatal care, gynecology, family planning, preventive women’s health, and the treatment of perimenopause and menopause symptoms.
Dr. Kochenburger takes a thoughtful, conservative approach to care. He believes patients deserve time to ask questions, understand their health and participate in decisions about treatment. When care outside the office is needed, he coordinates with appropriate hospitals, surgeons and specialists.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kochenburger enjoys spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. He is also an avid equestrian, hiker and dog lover.
